Organize your objects with style: introducing Schlü

When was the last time you saw a really simple but brilliant design object? To me was during the last edition of the Designmesse in Zürich, when my attention was caught by coloured and multifunctional special bars to store different kind of objects.

Widnau-based designer Karin Sieber-Graf is the founder of Schlü, a brand new Swiss company born in the mid of 2013. Her creations are the result of a personal need. In fact the idea came to her because she couldn’t find what she was looking for: a product to keep in order, with style, keys, sunglasses, towels and a lot of different objects. Since she couldn’t find this specific product, she decided to create her own. Only with time, and thanks to the support of her family and friends, she started to think about founding a proper company. Today her catalogue consists of “Schlüsselbrett” made by aluminiun, wood and 20 different felt colors useful for padding. They are really easy to assemble and all the assembly accessoires are included. Furthermore, there are different accessories according to the use you are going to do with your own bar.

To organize your key, for example, you might need some rings or knobs. Instead, for creative people, are available test tubes to place single flowers. As Karin revealed during our interview, she is currently working also on a candle holder. There is one aspect of Karin’s work that I want to share with you, and it has nothing to do with design. When I met Karin at the Designmesse I, first of all, appreciated passion she has for her work. I’m sincere in writing that. She is not doing any big plan for the future: she is trying to simply develop her projects taking care of her customers and their specific needs.

“Hopefully, You Can Feel The Creative Way Of Thinking, The Joy And The Passion In My Products.” One of our questions for Karin was about upcoming events. She is a very little volcano! Her calendar is busy because she is planning to participate in the next edition of the Swiss Design Award and of the Red Dot Award. On 25 and 26 October 2014 she will take part in “Die Gustav” a special fair about design, consumption and sustainability (Dornbirn, Austria); from 31 October to 2 November 2014 she will be one of the exhibitors of the Design Gut in Winterthur and, finally, Karin will also be at the Blickfang in Zurich (22-24 November 2014). Karin Sieber-Graf is a mix of colours and passion and we wish her all the best for the future. We hope to hear from Schlü some news soon!
